Normally I would vote yes. But I hate that this law alludes to Mexicans or their cartels brining fentanyl in. I’m pretty sure most all the fentanyl found in heroin is actually coming from the theft or sale of it by people who get the prescriptions for it. Right here in the United States. Take a look at (many) European countries and their approach to drugs and addiction. I once walked through a park in Geneva Switzerland where the opiate addicts are allowed to use. I asked my friend why he wasn’t worried about getting robbed. It’s a different drug culture over there. Much more relaxed even with large amounts of narcotics. We should try to adopt tat approach for a while (a decade or two or three to see what progress we can make that way). I’d rather the money for this be put to use with effective programs to allow people to break their addiction to opiates and other drugs. That will help more. Studies show that and addict is an addict and will just pay more or steal more (if they have to) to get the drug. The money is better used in these programs.
