The times have changed. It is no longer “MUSKETS” - an infantryman's light gun with a long barrel, typically smooth-bored, MUZZLELOADING, and fired from the shoulder.
The right to bear arms was created mainly in an effort to have citizens fight against a tyrannical government or ruler that wields absolute power and authority, and often wields that power unjustly, cruelly, or oppressively. Even if such were to be the case today, the government has drones and nuclear weapons - good luck with that.
If for defense, why the need of assault weapons. It seems to me that the need for assault rifles stems from a need or desire for attacking not defending against an attacker. It is in everyone’s best interest to remove the means for attacking massive amounts of people.
If you like guns, the only defensive argument, go to a range and rent an assault rifle to be fired on location- safer for everyone as I don’t trust you. With so many illegal and legal drugs, who knows, you might go wacko on me.
