Hate crime is crime against people who don't really have a choice what they are, police choose to be police so they're not victims of a hate crime. What's next, companies can claim to be victims of a hate crime if employees protest for a living wage? Just like how free speech and hate speech are not mutually inclusive neither are backlashes to hate crime also considered hate crime. If I resist arrest will that be considered a hate crime? Police officers are the ones with guns, not me, so how will I also be protected by the law? How are people of color being protected by the law when they're constantly being attacked by police, and how come congress hasn't ruled that a hate crime perpetrated by police officers but propose officers be protected from (usually unarmed) American citizens?
