This is a useless bill. The only way to really solve the problem is to remove cannabis from the list of Schedule I drugs. There is ALREADY a bill with 39 cosponsors. HR 1227 removes cannabis as "hard drug". This bill offers no reparations for the communities impacted by the failed War on Drugs. It does nothing to provide a framework of how to approach medicinal cannabis. It does nothing to help children who could actually benefit from THC or CBD treatment. This bill only lets the states figure it out at their own pace under the guise of "states rights". By making the path to legalization disjointed, we would have a system with little to no communication across state borders and a failed way of legalizing a plant that should never have been so heavily criminalized in the first place.
