The Constitution and the Bill of Rights guarantee to the American people the right to be free of government control of their personal lives as long as their actions fall within the law. A number of laws have been upheld covering a multitude of situations in which the rights of the individual to freedom of choice have been challenged. One of these laws is the right of a woman to determine what is done or not done to or with her own body. There are continued attempts by our fellow citizens who disagree with this law to undermine it's implementation. This is yet another attempt, and in my opinion does not represent the will of the majority of the American people. A large majority of the American people DO NOT support abortion in any form. A large majority of the American people DO support the right of a woman to control her own body. These two ARE NOT mutually exclusive. Legislating away individual rights guaranteed by the Constitution is a slippery slope that most Americans do not wish to pursue. This bill is yet another attempt to legislate away individual rights. Regardless of my personal opinion about abortion, I can not support it. I prefer to use my energy to educate, motivate, and guide women who who face the challenge of an unwanted pregnancy to make a better choice. But acting on a national level to deny individual rights is fascist.
