More often than not, "protected" classes are misidentified and cause minorities to suffer. By definition the classes we protect are the majority ones, because they are the most visible. The reason we're talking about gender identity discrimination is because we're just now noticing them as a group that should be treated fairly. The kicker is that they have always existed! Thanks to these laws we've been discriminating against them this whole time. Attempting to equalize statistical groups has the effect of distorting statistical groups that we don't account for.
