For those arguing in favor of the electoral college to represent our diverse states, why not have the electoral college votes divided proportionally based on popular votes? A republican in California should have the opportunity to be represented the same as a democrat in Indiana. The winner takes all method excludes minority voters in every state that could otherwise gain a majority together and amplifies slim majority leads. You complain about the large cities deciding, but currently a few swing states decide and only the slim majority in those states have a voice. The popular vote doesn't matter AND the minority in every state - no matter how close they are to a majority - doesn't matter. Only those in power who know how to skew the rules in their favor have the real say.
