Definitely. No one I know in any Black community is looking for a handout or "free money", but the silence on the inability to even acknowledge the subject is deafening. At a minimum American leaders should have the commission to study the issue, a simple formal acknowledgment accompanied by a sincere apology-not from president Obama, i think for obvious reasons-would be better. And it should be noted that if monetary compensation were ever on the table, it's not unprecedented. Civil Liberties Act of 1988, compensating families of Japanese who were interned during WWII.
