While I agree that people with suspended or revoked licenses should not be allowed to operate a similar business, I am very concerned about this punishment extending to family members. Just because my brother does something stupid, doesn’t mean I should pay the price and loose my livelihood.
Having said that, I think it is reasonable to require relatives of those who have suspended/revoked licenses to receive extra scrutiny when they try to establish a similar business. They may even need to be inspected more frequently for a reasonable period after such actions have occurred to family members.
I would ask that an amendment be added requiring that license applications include wording that remind people:
1) Anyone who obtains a license for someone who has a revoked or suspended license shall be guilty of fraud (or whatever other laws apply) and be subject to prosecution under those statutes.
2) Anyone who uses the name and/or other personal information of someone else is guilty of identity theft and subject to prosecution under those statutes.
