The United States is a world power and, as such, we have sworn obligation to take care of those in need. While I’m not saying we should intervene in Venezuela (I mean, look at what happened in Guatemala in the 80s because of U.S. intervention), we should offer asylum to those who need it. People in Venezuela are starving to death and a country that was once one of Latin America’s wealthiest now has many deserted buildings and lays in the face of chaos. The United States has always said that we are a nation of immigrants. Why, now, are we closing off our borders to those who need it most?
