I don't know of anyone that needs an assault rifle except the military. So many more people die in an attack with them than if someone was using a hand gun or other weapon. You will have done what you could do to save lives by voting to ban them from being sold or bought so what will it hurt? Just because someone may buy them illegally isn't a reason not to ban them - there would be no reason for any laws if you think like that. There should be no test on whether someone is on a terrorist watchlist or not. With as many kids learning how to use them with video, computer and reality games there could be many more on the street if you don't deal with it now.
