Maybe but we should have real facts and not a little descriptive language. TSA employees are represented by the AFGE Union. TSO’s make between $15 and $24 an hour (according to my research) which isn’t a lot of money but generally referred to as a living wage considering the prerequisites are being 18 and have a high school diploma. They also receive the full package of heath insurance, dental, eye, life insurance, personal and sick leave, flexible schedule and tuition reimbursement so that they can use their work as a bridge to a different career if desired.
One thing they don’t get that federal employees get is months to be fired if they are caught putting travelers in danger on purpose.
If we want to roll them into the normal federal system by all means, but there’s a reason they weren’t in the first place so let’s think about it as a whole.
