Normally, I would make the argument that the government should have no say so in restricting features on any electronic device. However, what we inevitably end up with is a decision of ethics being left up to large corporations. Obviously, it is a crowd sourcing initiative to sell more products, at least on the surface. Its intent does not necessarily limit its use. Eventually, we will face several scenarios, listed but not limited to; ethics on when surveillance can happen, weak points for hacking, judicial evidence, and ironically, government monitoring. Do not mistake my opinion for a dislike of new features and functions, technology is ever changing and welcomed in my book. However, this always needs to be an opt-in service that details its use, permissions, and allows full control to the end user.
