I am opposed to abortion. I would like the practice to stop altogether. I want babies and all beings with living human DNA to have rights, to give them the chance to breathe, be adopted and loved. However, late term abortions are hard to come by, very hard decisions to make and there are only a few doctors who will make those decisions and less who are able to perform the surgery. They are very rare. Parents who have made it to late term have not gone thru the whole 5 months of pregnancy and changed their mind. There is something wrong. They require a specialist referral to get an abortion. We need to leave these decisions to doctors and parents. I would be in favor of an across the board limit on abortions, with exceptions for medical purposes. Social and psychological reasons are not automatic qualifiers. However there need to be robust supports available to women. We must be willing to feed, house, clothe and support these women to have healthy pregnancies and support as needed become more physically and mentally healthy themselves. Support needs to be very accessible. Birth control needs to be free, all kinds, whatever works best for the woman to be compliant and protected for as long as she wants to be. But do not take away the parents' ability to decide together with the doctor what the best course is.
