HELL NO! I am always struck by how blatantly political these types of bills are. Has no one else noticed the gazillions of $$$ we already spend on security if you add up the budgets of the Departments of Homeland Security, Justice & Defense? We can barely talk about anything else this political season. We have serious (though ridiculous) discussions about walls & borders. We have a Defense budget that is larger than that of all other developed countries combined. We have militarized our police departments to the point of insanity. The myth is that with hyper-vigilance from every portion of government & the expenditure of enormous amounts of money for the next 100 generations, we can be completely safe all the time. Which is unmitigated bullshit! Life is dangerous. It always has been, it is now and it always will be. There is nothing that anyone can do to change the reality that human beings prey on one another. We refuse to deal with our homegrown domestic (largely white, Christian & male) terrorism. While there is great outrage that the President & others don't use the magic words that will erase all threats: radical Islamic terrorism. We call our domestic terrorists mentally ill & refuse to increase funding for mental health. Or note that many are Christian zealots or white supremacists. We are all for every citizen being armed to the teeth as long as they aren't brown or black. We have never had a refugee involved in an act of terrorism & yet our elected political crazies spend their time barring carefully screened refugees. STOP THIS INSANITY. We aren't safer when we focus on the wrong things nor does the expenditure of money ensure our safety. As evidence, I offer the trillions of dollars we spent in Iraq only to be 'liberating' (the polite word for 'destroying') Fallujah for the 2nd, is it the 3rd time? Thousands of American veterans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have had their lives destroyed by our fear & the myth that $$$ buys safety.
