Building additional walls/slats on the southern border will never solve the problems that people are escaping from their homelands. There’s NO national emergency in needing money to build something that’s not needed.
A national emergency is what’s happened from a natural disaster, e.g., hurricane or tornado or flood, etc, or an accident, e.g., a plane crash or mass shooting or major fire, etc. or when a large part of the population can’t afford healthcare or treatment for drug addiction or higher education due to the high price to attend or even a place to live because they’ve been priced out due to no affordable houses close to their work, etc.
Our priorities need to change from trying to keep our future workers and their families who take the job that most Americans refuse to do, and deal with the income inequality in this country.
