Why don't you form a committee of people with experience in the medical field and/or real world experience with aging populations and their needs?! This is why many of our government programs don't work! You have politicians and bureaucrats making decisions and policies about things they know nothing about! You need social security fixed? I'm not doing anything right now! I have always been the one to put out fires and find solutions for problems no matter where I'm working. I can tell you right now that if the time was taken to review the cases of people on disability, you'd find that there are many, many people on it that have no business being on it! I know someone that's been on it for decades for carpal tunnel. I know a kid in that same family that is on it for ADHD. I know someone who has been on it for 20 years for bipolar disorder. All of these are easily fixed with surgery and/or medication. There's no reason to support these people financially for the rest of their lives. Review their cases, find things they can do with their "limitations", get them some training and put them back to work! And here I am bed ridden having seizures everyday, can't even cook myself a meal and the SSA tells me I can work! So, if I can, so can many of these people. Spend the money on education and training and filling the 7 million available jobs right now. I wish the SSA would do that for me! If I can work then find me a job! Stop treating disability like an unemployment agency. Age, education and, work experience should not be a factor when considering someone for disability. The decision should be based on how disabled the person is and nothing else! So ridiculous that, that even has to be said! I would be more than happy to review disability cases for validity.
