It definitely should be no more difficult to fire a Federal government employee than it is to do so in the private sector. Decades ago union protection for government workers was essential as they were paid less, and had fewer benefits, than the private sector. In addition, it was necessary to protect them as different political parties took control of the government and they would, in the old days, fire all that had not supported them. This is no longer the case. Today, Government workers are paid as well, and in many, many cases, much better than their counterparts in the private industry. Also, it should not take a virtual act of Congress to fire a government worker. Any government worker!!!
