The president is technically within his right to reallocate these funds. While I both support ensuring that the president and his businesses do not profit from building the border wall AND funds being allocated to the original various military projects, this is a dangerous precedent to set for the future, when an “emergency” may not be as divisive as the wall. This isn’t a long term piece of legislation and only seeks to stop the person in office from doing something that many people dislike, even though he’s within reasonable power to do so and many voters put him in office partly BECAUSE of this platform. The people spoke, and their votes should matter, even if the project is off-putting to many. Again, this legislation isn’t good for the American people in the long term.
