Tax code certainly needs to be reformed. I think that is something that all Americans can agree upon. But a solution needs be reached without an impending date for the current system to be invalidated. A deadline will only set us up for failure. We all know how this will play out. Congress will postpone making any legitimate policy solutions until close to the deadline, and then propose a half-baked solution that doesn't actually solve anything but meets the deadline. Work towards making actual improvements. Truly motivated people can work without arbitrary deadlines.
