Guns are one of the few legal products that, when used as intentionally designed, inflict lethal injury - or threaten the same... and many weapons of war are produced by these manufacturers which have no business being sold to the general public. Manufacturers of other products are held liable if they create products that are deemed unsuitable, unsafe, or patently dangerous. Giving the manufacturer of any product a shield from any sort of lawsuit is not equal protection under the law; at the same time, laws must be reasonably applied. Gun ownership should be like car ownership: in order to drive my car, I need to be taught, tested, and licensed, my car needs to be registered, and I am legally responsible for any damage caused by the misuse of my car.
