Insuring that we have highly qualified educators teaching our children is of utmost importance. Being that education is dynamic and not static, we as educators seek for ourselves what we try to instill in our students, a thirst for lifelong learning. Requiring all teachers across the nation to access and maintain a certain level of preparedness and personal development is critical to what makes for a successful teacher who motivates her students to learn. Knowledge of advanced teaching methods and technological innovations can not be relegated to the hit or miss realm of political bias. Federal DOE regulations which insure a uniform standard of quality for the education and preparation of teachers is laudable. As a retired special education teacher, I would expect no less. Putting it succinctly, I am adamantly against this resolution. I vote nay!
