Anyone who has read about the torture these people have suffered, particularly the women, would have difficulty denying priority sanctuary to these targeted minorities suffering the most deliberate and brutal assault. While one can say 'religion should not be a factor,' — it shouldn't be when it comes to freedom, equality, human rights — however the fact of the matter is that their culture and religion are why they are one of the most harshly targeted groups. We need to be tolerant of people of all cultures and religions and treat each other equally, however when a group is being targeted and slaughtered based on ethnicity, we can not turn a blind eye to that. We need to recognize that this group is being brutally targeted and at risk of being erased by genocide. When Hitler ruled Germany many Germans suffered immensely; it wasn't just the Jews. But the Jews were a group that was deliberately, harshly targeted. The average Jewish German was at hundreds of times greater risk of suffering and death than the average German in general. To not give priority to the most viciously attacked groups—Jews, Romas, Poles, Homosexuals, and people with disabilities— would be a critical failure of judgment.
