I think it’s ironic that a country that so effectively used boycotts to gain its own independence from the English monarchy would consider outlawing a peaceful protest less than 300 years later but... hey. It seems like a lot of constitutional law and what America represents is being thrown out in favor of racism and bigotry so, I guess ironic but not entirely surprising.
Israel is treating the Palestinians in a way which is globally recognized as being unconscionable. Our administration has made it clear they fee more comfortable siding with dictators and the alarming way they have acknowledged Israel’s land claims (moving of the American embassy, etc) is goddamned alarming. They are not acting with any kind of restraint now, the PM had been indicted and their own government is clearly in a state of corruption. I don’t trust Israel or the current US government to negotiate, I don’t believe either government will do anything to help Palestine. That’s why it’s so important to make sure that citizens can ALWAYS engage in peaceful protests. Honestly I feel like my rights are under attack enough as it is with the trump administration and anything to take more power away from the people should be met with alarm and trepidation.
