Some EOs are national security findings and directives. The minute a coalition of states can interfere with the foreign policy and military prerogatives of the Executive then our checks and balances will further erode. I understand that people fear the currently unbalanced power differential between the Executive and legislative branches, but that problem rests entirely on Congress and their abdication of their Constitutional authority. They pass the buck on declarations of war, grant sweeping authorities because they don’t want to be on record either way, and ultimately let the rights of citizens be further eroded because they lack the guts or the courage to stand up for their constituents. The republic is failing because of how petty, pathetic, and utterly shameful our Congress has become. It’s time they take it back and not pass the buck to the states.
