The fact that schools are unsafe means we need to dig deeper. Only a mere 3% of mass shooters are stopped with an armed civilian. Not to mention that there is no proof that mass shooters actually target gun free zones, typically their target is personal to them. Is it really a surprise that a teen opens fire in a school they were bullied in? Not only that, but even the government and police forces have said that it's dangerous for civilians to open fire in these situations. They are not trained and may even add to the death toll. Instead can we focus on the issue? Which is poverty, mental health, abuse, bullying, etc? Does it not make more sense to start at the source? Mass shootings will still happen if the environment to make a mass shooter is still present.
