The idea is novel, but the Pro's to Con's in my mind are lopsided in favor of the Cons. Having narcotics on an ambulance would no doubt put them at risk from those who wish to get narcotics by way of robbery. Also, what are the legal ramifications if narcotics are administered incorrectly or just given the wrong thing because symptoms were masking the real root cause of what was wrong? Who gets sued? Who is criminally responsible for the negligence? How many lives are saved (or would be) if a narcotic we able to have been given? Statistically speaking, is that number high enough to justify the practice and possible repercussions of wrongful death/malpractice?
