It doesn't particularly matter if a member of Congress is wealthy...and not all members are independently wealthy - but that's besides the point. You cannot and you should not EVER hold a proverbial (or literal) gun to the head of your representative to vote on an issue. This has the potential to force capitulation on issues tied to budgets that you DON'T want your representative to fold on. No. The PUBLIC needs to engage their representatives and overwhelmingly tell them what they want/do not want and that representative needs to carry out those wishes. Failure to do so results in their losing their next election. The "system" is working as it should. Eventually the party holding up the bill from going to the POTUS (who might veto it for it to be overturned by Congress) will need to answer to the public and if the public disagrees with their opinion they'll know come the next election cycle. LET THE SYSTEM WORK!!!
