The common saying: a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun. Well, does it really? A school shooting breaking out and everyone having a gun to whip out, imagine the chaos and the carnage that would be tripled if it was one shooter. Imagine the difficulty law enforcement would have going into an active shooting and every student and teacher armed and with it drawn. That's one scenario, heated disagreements with armed participants? Sport stadiums with heated fans and school rivalries? If the students and teachers are armed in every situation on a school campus, we'd multiply our school shootings by 1000 times. It silences free speech, it prevents teachers from doing their jobs, it endangers those around them. Humans aren't trustworthy enough to be armed with a killing machine in such unpredictable environments where we are meant to be challenged and tested, to grow and to ask questions and to argue for the sake of our progress. Guns don't belong in the hands of students or teachers cause they fear one another.
