I was hesitant on the "Yea" vote because it leaves out a lot. From DeFazio's website: "The DRAIN the SWAMP Act..., H.R. 484, would ban anyone who serves as a political appointee from lobbying for five years after they leave the Executive Branch. The bill would also permanently bar any individual appointed to the Trump Administration from lobbying on behalf of a foreign government." 1) It only includes the Executive Branch. It needs to include all three branches, or at least add Legislative, elected AND appointed. 2) It only bars individuals AFTER they served. It should also bar individuals that lobbied within five years BEFORE they served/will serve. 3) The above quote specifically identifies 45's Admin when barring from lobbying with a foreign government. ALL individuals, appointed AND elected, from ALL branches should be permanently barred from lobbying with foreign governments BEFORE and AFTER serving in office or as a political appointee.
