My friends have been caught in the net of a flip-flopping government. In good faith they have registered and gotten in line to obtain legal immigration status that can last FOR DECADES; they work hard, they have children and grandchildren who are US born citizens. All having been under rules that allow them to stay, work, and WAIT for the interminably slow process to complete. Now, however, since they have complied with all of our rules, they are registered and can be easily located, BUT that information is now used against them to deport them and separate families, or send their US-born citizen children "back" to a country that is not theirs, not known to them, and where they are now the outcast. No, immigration status should not be part of the census. NO. We cannot be trusted with that information.
