This bill would subject the Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States to the Code of Conduct for United States Judges in hopes of keeping them \"mindful of their preeminence in the Federal judiciary.\"

The Code is a procedural set of standards used by all other federal courts save for the Supreme Court. They include five cannons that state judges should:

Uphold the integrity and independence of the judiciary — basically requiring judges to stay independent and unbiased, while following the law;
Avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety in all activities;
Perform the duties of the office fairly, impartially and diligently;
Engage in extrajudicial activities that are consistent with the obligations of judicial office;
Refrain from political activity — Judges cannot endorse candidates for office, speak publicly for political organizations or fundraise for political parties.

Supreme Court justices would have 180 days to adopt a code of ethics with the five canons above, with any amendments or modifications they feel are necessary.
