Political appointees should not be banned from lobbying in any capacity because it is nobody's business what job they hold after leaving their post. If politics or a specialty therein is their job, nobody should be able to prevent them from working in their field. This is why employment clauses saying an employee can't quit or be laid off and then go work for a competitor never holds weight and every business that's ever tried to enforce it has been ruled down. You cannot prevent a person from making a living in their area of specialty if someone is willing to hire them or they are able to make a living as a self employed person. This would be like trump firing a construction worker and then having a law saying the worker was not allowed to work in the field of construction for five years. For someone who proclaims to be so pro-job for everyone, this is a rather absurd law. And once he's out of the White House, it would prevent his own people from making a living.
