While I am an Evangelical Christian, I do not believe that a tax exempt churches should be allowed to make contributions to politicians. If an organization is exempt from taxation, they should not be able to influence citizens' representation. Besides, church money should be reserved for charity, church maintenance, and church events, not political endorsements. That being said, if a church is NOT tax exempt they have every right to sponsor a politician. Doing so would not be a threat to the separation of church and state, as they would be functioning just as any other special interest group would.
