As a single Army Vet who is rated at 80% disabled, I can tell you that this needs to happen. I receive a little over $1500 a month. When I retired, I did not return back to work but, began law school instead. I am thankful that I have never had to worry extensively about money. But, I can't imagine having to live only on that amount. Even Vets with families don't get that much more (~$1000 more). COLA, cost of living adjustment, should be sensitive to economical growth each fiscal year. It's sad that people, particularly those in Congress, always feign "caring" about Vets and that we're sooo important. But, when the time comes to put up or shut up, then suddenly they're more concerned with administrative stuff, red tape, and every other tiny detail but the most important one: the HUMAN aspect of it all. There is nothing wrong with being conservative, whether in your personal life or politics. But, the time has come to STOP seeing Democratic/Republican and Conservative/Liberal. This country, especially those in an office of PUBLIC SERVICE, need to start doing what is morally right. Time out for games and political vitriol. You either work FOR us, the people in state and country as a whole, or....We need to find someone who will.
