This bill would direct the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to create a website for the public to view the contents of political advertisements that refer to a clearly identified federal candidate within 12 months of an election. The website would be known as the Campaign Accountability Site.

The sponsor of a political advertisement would have to submit the contents of the ad to the FEC (in a specified format), with the source information for content available through hyperlinks or other means. This requirement would apply to candidates and their campaigns, Super PACs, and other organizations that air sponsored political advertisements.

Additionally, the sponsor would be required to provide the FEC with the advertisement within:

24 hours after its release, if it's released during the seven days before the contested election;
72 hours after its release during any other period.
