Although this resolution does not in fact criminalize the production of "fake news." It is essential that people understand the "slippery slope" that legislation like this would create. If the government is to be granted the ability to define "fake news," is it truly so difficult to foresee governmental regulation of this kind of speech? I think not. We must firmly guard our civil liberties, and this legislation would simply create an environment in which government is endorsing certain news sources, while condemning others. It would be only a matter of (likely short) time before Congress begins to truly monitor the airwaves, and that reality is a truly terrifying one. Vote Nay
