No way I agree with LORAKI: This bill is sponsored by a WA liberal and is cosponsored by three other liberals. That doesn't NECESSARILY mean it's a bad bill, but the title raises a lot of questions:
Portable benefits? What benefits?! For eligible workers? Which workers?! Does it include illegal aliens?! Too many unknowns at this point in time! The BIG QUESTION, however, is the constitutionality of the DOL, in the first place! Give me one GOOD reason why the federal government has any jurisdiction over labor laws! This should be the sole concern of each state!
But, anyway, knowing that this particular Representative rarely votes the way I would, I'm not inclined to want to support this bill. After I've seen the text, if I decide it's a GOOD bill, I will change my vote.
Text: H.R.2685 — 115th Congress (2017-2018) - To require the Secretary of Labor to establish a pilot program for providing portable benefits to eligible workers, and for other purposes.

Bills are generally sent to the Library of Congress from GPO, the Government Publishing Office, a day or two after they are introduced on the floor of the House or Senate. Delays can occur when there are a large number of bills to prepare or when a very large bill has to be printed."
