Setting over-ambitious quotas to “spread the wealth” to those less fortunate is not an appropriate solution right now. Although our economy is said to be booming, we cannot sacrifice that at the cost of moving more and more people into the United States. If they wish to apply for citizenship and live in America, or come on a work visa, I see no problem with this. However, to guarantee the entry of hundreds of thousands of refugees every year, on top of the number of illegal and legal immigrants that enter our country, and the steady growth of our population by childbirth can be risky. How are we to solve homelessness and unemployment and poverty in our nation when we continue to add more mouths to feed, and more bodies that need sheltered? We have to consider the needs of those less fortunate in our own country, before we jump to those of another nation.
