Not the government's role. Would it be nice to know with complete confidence what food you are consuming? Absolutely. But do you have a right to that? Not at all. Not even a little bit. The right that you do have is to decide not to transact with someone whose product you don't want or like or trust. You also have the right to use your own resources to CREATE a business that addresses the demand for healthy, quality foods if you feel that the supply in that market is not meeting the demand. But there is no moral justification for forcing your standards onto someone else, even if your intentions are good. Your good ends do not justify your authoritarian means.
