There are already very accurate age-identification technologies available that can be used online. They are already being used by reputable online vape stores. Adding this requirement hurts not only the small businesses that run these stores by adding unnecessary additional costs, but also rural smokers trying to quit that have no other meaningful access to this lifesaving technology.
Adding more laws over a practice (selling online) that has not even been proven to be a problem is only hindering a market for primarily small business owners.
Let’s look at how minors are actually getting these products and go from there. Inside of assuming we know where they are getting them from and making it unnecessarily harder on small businesses.
Lastly, something to consider, most of these products are being sold to minors in peer-to-peer manner over social media or on sites like Etsy / eBay, that do not employ the above mentioned 18+ authentication technologies and these marketplace operators do not police their sites well enough to rid their marketplaces of these offending sellers.
