This is absolutely necessary. The only way to "drain the swamp" is to return to an ideology where government officials run for office due to a feeling of civic duty rather than monetary gain. Paying congressmen after they've left office is a large hemorrhage of taxpayer money that should be stopped. These individuals clearly had enough financial freedom to campaign for office, they can go back to their businesses and individual endeavors after leaving office. We as the American people thank you for you civil service but that does not entitle you to have a pension paid for by us, the people who may or may not be your constituents.
