I believe life begins at conception. However I don't really care when the government thinks life begins. The only way, in my opinion, this would matter on a federal level is if a pregnant woman was murdered or hurt by someone else and her unborn child died. Then the definition becomes important. But anti-abortionists would use this definition to attack women who choose to have an abortion. As long as abortion is legal on a federal level I think it would be hard to obtain a definition of when life begins. Once that definition is decided then abortion laws must fall in line with that definition and laws agains unborn children also have to fall in line with this definition. So just defining the term is not as simple as this question suggests. A definition would impact many other facets of the abortion/pro life movement.
