States should not be able to prevent Medicaid funding from going to abortion providers, because there are many important resources and services provided at places which may also offer abortions, that lower income families may lose access to otherwise. Also, when we defund abortion providers, it has been proven that there is a rise of mother mortality rates and dangerous at-home abortions rises. It doesn't STOP abortions - if anything, it will increase them. These are EXACTLY the providers that NEED resources so that mothers feel safe and don't resort to unsafe measures. Maybe if we were more accepting and mothers weren't so scared that they had no options, the number of abortions themselves might decrease as well. In short, this is not the way to try to "save lives."
