The bills have gotten beyond ridiculous. No one reads them, they are loaded with add ons just to get it passed. A bill should be a statement of intent. It should never be more than 25 pages long and every voting Rep. or Senator should have to sign their full names to their copy of every bill with the final page having a date, their signature and their vote. The President should have to do the same thing if that bill is to become law. Part 2 of each bill should be no more than another 25 pages. These would explain how much the bill is estimated to cost. If the actual breakdown of cost can not be explained in 25 pages then they have too complicated of a bill and need to go back to the original statement and break it down some more. Again, every single Rep./Senator signs every page, if they don't, their vote doesn't count. If this was done every politician would be accountable for every action they take. It would take much less time to pass or deny bills as they would understand what they are dealing with. They would have to actually learn how the issue they are voting on really works to have that information simplified and stated in the bill. And, it would be much easier to have control over the budget because they would be seeing the costs of each piece of the budget. Would it take writing more bills, yes, but again they would be held accountable.
