Funny enough I agree with the top comment for and against, I believe we should have some sort of mandatory service organization or military. Too many kids have no sense of perspective. I was fortunate enough to be able to go to South America and the Caribbean on missions trips through my church. I met kids who lived in squalor worked in public schools with 2 textbooks, and saw people who loved life without all our luxuries. I visited aids hospitals and played with disabled orphans and went to minister to people of all sorts. This was eye opening for me and all the students who went. What better way to learn to appreciate she blessings of living in this country than helping people who truly need it. We don’t need an organization to provide jobs we need a public who understand the ideals of America and even when it fails to live up to those realize that our country and way of life is the best ever conceived. I would love to see a program that takes kids the year after high school for a year. To spend half of it domestically a quarter internationally and let them decide for the last quarter. This would provide perspective, promote a love of country teach them how to serve people, make them more culturally aware, and teach them skills that will help serve this country.
