First off, it seems as if every other commenter on this post must have been detained or know someone who is detained in Guantanamo, to have such definitive expertise regarding who is and why they are at Guantanamo. Last time I checked Guantanamo county jail, pretty sure they don't stick every person detained, on the weekly bookings section of your local news paper. A lazy man finds fact from assumption, and foolish one acts on presumptions. I would be surprised if I'm the only one who has heard both sides of the political rhetoric .... so I don't see the point for repeating it here. With regards to my opinion about Guantanamo, And since I lack unmediated knowledge of the facility, I vote nay. I can not vote to restrict nor modify in anyway the current operation because I do not have definitive facts to base a decision. I can only presume that the facility serves a purpose; and I do have direct knowledge that it currently does not harm cause harm to me, however, I have no knowledge of how changes to the operation at Guantanamo could effect me, which could be negative or positive. This is how you rationalize people, you compare what you know against what you don't, and choose which side has the least negatives. Politician are good at taking a rational approach to their votes. Unfortunately, the consequences and benefits, which I think are to often weighed, have nothing to do with the vote, just political aspirations.
