Firstly, we need to pull away from our reliance on Russia for space missions and ensure that our defense capabilities can include those of the final frontier to remain competitive against the military innovations of Russia and China. Although this bill is unrelated to defense spending, a capable NASA for space launches is imperative for this. Secondly, we need to invest in space exploration for eventual extraterrestrial habitation. This may sound far fetched, and typically I consider space exploration a complete waste of money, but Earth will not be as hospitable in the centuries to come and advances in space technology and environmental exploitation is advancing to see a habitable Mars in the eventual future. Lastly, it is not the duty of NASA to invest in environmental science as it relates to climate change on earth, that would be the duty for the EPA or related environmental science body within the government.
