Clearly, the system currently in place is full of holes, levied unjustly, and inconsistent between establishments. One university may be handling sexual assault cases "well" under the current laws, but who's to say another Stanford case isn't going to occur tomorrow night? Will the predator again be a rich white kid who gets off with basically a slap on the wrist? Who knows. The possibility of that unknown needs to be stopped. I'm tired of hearing about rape cases going unreported for months because the victim knows the current procedure will be more struggle than it's worth. I'm tired of my parents grilling me about who I was with and being careful and wary of the time of night and location. If I, as a student, am paying tuition, I deserve a base right of protection and proper response from my university or college should something so horrible ever happen.
