People who exhibited mental issues should NOT be granted access to weapons. I have a family member with severe depression for years - has attempted suicide twice, been hospitalized, treatments & counseling & still depressed. Were there a weapon in the house would have succeeded. Additionally I do extensive family history research complete with death certificates to document family healthcare history. With my research I have discovered far too many ancestors (direct & marriage) who committed suicide with a gunshot to their head, many after years of treatment for depression per the death certificates. So this is not a new issue to American families. While these people ultimately killed themselves...how easy would it had been for them to harm others with access to weapons? Too easy. Guns do not belong in the hands of troubled individuals. If a doctor reports their patient mental unfit...that's good enough for me to feel their 2nd Amendment right isn't without justification prohibited due to reasonable concerns.
